Innovation For Impact Club

The Innovation for Impact (I4I) Club brings together students from across the University of Notre Dame to address global challenges through empathy, collaboration and creative problem-solving – bringing to life Fr. Sorin’s vision of the University as a “powerful means for good.”

Founded in spring 2022, the Innovation for Impact Club serves as the non-academic student engine of the Powerful Means Initiative, transforming classroom insights into real-world action. Through the club, students lead hands-on projects, organize fundraising campaigns, engage directly with global partners like St. Bakhita’s in Uganda and prototype solutions that address pressing social challenges. As a key pillar of the initiative, the club fosters student leadership, creativity and purpose-driven collaboration. Students benefit from the mentorship of alumni and professionals who serve as industry advisors, enriching the experience with expert insight and career guidance. Through I4I, students gain valuable skills and perspectives while contributing to meaningful, community-driven solutions.

Current Projects

  • Finance

The Finance team helps manage all club funds, working with the other project teams to allocate funds in alignment with the club's goals and activities, as well as leading the club's budgeting process and fundraising goals.

  • Events

The Events team helps design, organize, and execute club events, collaborating with other teams to amplify the club's reach and engagement.

  • Marketing and Communications

The Marketing and Communications team is responsible for the club's marketing efforts and online presence, including social media management and sales events. It also works to advance its own initiatives, which currently includes creating a grant application template for Saint Bakhita Vocational Training Center.

  • English and Math Tutoring

The Tutoring project aims to enhance the English and Math proficiency of students at Saint Bakhita Vocational Training Center through one-on-one or small-group virtual tutoring sessions led by Notre Dame students. Each session lasts 30–45 minutes and focuses on skill-building and fostering meaningful cross-cultural relationships.

  • L.I.F.T. (Let's Improve Futures Together)

The Let’s Improve Futures Together Initiative seeks to improve the quality of life for young women at Saint Bakhita Vocational Training Center by developing and implementing a women’s health and empowerment curriculum. Focused on topics such as menstrual hygiene, family management, mental and physical wellbeing and self-empowerment, the initiative is rooted in the belief that uplifting women strengthens entire communities.

  • Marathon

This student-led initiative supports the Powerful Means Initiative and Saint Bakhita Vocational Training Center by organizing a philanthropic trip to northern Uganda. The project’s goal is to raise awareness and funds for the school while giving Notre Dame students the opportunity to participate in a local marathon and engage in service work on the ground. The trip will include time volunteering at the vocational school, combining physical challenge with direct service to support long-term impact.
